Paradise Lost
The illustration portrays four colorful happy kids, representing cultural diversity. Simply beautiful! There is nothing I enjoy more than seeing people from all over the world getting along like friends. It’s like a mini United Nations summit.
But one day I discovered the Asian-looking kid (on the far right) had a band-aid on his face, and I couldn’t help question why the artist of this sign would want to show a wounded kid at the “Paradise”.
All of a sudden the image I had of joyful world peace had turned into a world of intolerance and ethnic conflict. Now it seemed that you are ok at the “Paradise” as long as you’re white. But don’t you dare bring your Chinese kids here ‘cause we’ll beat the crap out of them.
Well, what do I know. Just look at the picture. Peace.
