Thank you for visiting my personal blog, a platform of assorted reflections that has been constantly transformed through the years without ever wanting to fully define itself or land on a firm motif, and that is updated whenever I possibly can.
I have lived in Monterrey, Mexico (where I was born), and in Tampa, Florida (eight years). But for the last 13 years my home has been Southern California. I enjoy the world of communications and making people think through expressive arts.
It is here where I have lived some of my most rewarding life experiences, mainly as an award-winning documentary filmmaker. As a musician, I played violin in a youth symphonic orchestra, and most recently using my voice and guitar with rock n’ roll band Los CANIX.
In 2006 I wrote & published a book (out of print now) about my experience as an international humanitarian-aid volunteer in the slums of Kibera in Kenya, Africa. I consider this event a breakthrough moment in my life.
There are also two other activities I enjoy plentiful: reading and cycling. I think it’s a shame I can’t do both simultaneously as they are incompatible. One requires me to be still, and the other entails constant moving. Not to mention it would be quite dangerous to read and cycle at the same time.
Some of the topics/genres I like to read include science, philosophy, history, feminism, poetry, classic literature, and transcendent fiction.
